God and His Son
Instituted the Sabbath and The Sabbath Belongs To Them
“And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had
made; and he rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made.”
Genesis 2:2. When God was busy creating the universe, His Son was with Him.
John 1:1 said, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and
the Word was God.” Verse 2-3 continued, “The same was in the beginning with
God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that
was made.”
There are some people who usually asked whose day is the Sabbath?
So the answer is found in both, Exodus Chapter
20, verse 10 and the gospel according to Saint Mark Chapter 2, verse 28.
“But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your
God,” ex 20:10. “For this reason the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”
Mk2:28.
7th Day of
the Week was Hallowed as the Sabbath.
God created
everything within six days.
Genesis account Chapter 2: verses 2-3 said that
“And on the seventh day God ended his work which He had
made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made.
And God blessed the
seventh day and sanctified it, because that in it He had rested from all His
work which God created and made”
God Gave the Command to Observe the Seventh Day of the Week. Exodus 20:8-11
It was from the
Ten Commandments of God that the observance of the 7th day of the
week has been made mandatory to every believer around the world.
“Remember the Sabbath day to set it apart as holy. For six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; on
it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, or your male
servant, or your female servant, or your cattle, or the resident foreigner who
is in your gates. For in six days the Lord made the
heavens and the earth and the sea and all that is in them, and he rested on the
seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as
holy or hallowed it.”
People of God Observed the Sabbath Between its Institution and the Giving of the Ten Commandments.
In connection with
the provision of manna in the wilderness even before the giving of the
commandments, the Sabbath is mentioned as an ordinance. This is well known and
its observance is enforced. Let see this in the book of Exodus Chapter 16,
verses 23 to 26 below.
He said to them, “This is what the Lord has said: ‘Tomorrow
is the rest of the holy Sabbath unto the Lord. Whatever you want to bake, bake
today; whatever you want to boil, boil today; whatever is left put aside for
yourselves to be kept until morning.’”
So they put it aside until the morning, just as Moses had
commanded, and it did not stink, nor were there any worms in it. Moses said, “Eat it today, for today is a Sabbath to the
Lord; today you will not find it in the area. Six days
you will gather it, but on the seventh day, which is the Sabbath, there will
not be any.”
The Bible Sabbath
Begins from Sunset and Close at Sunset.
The Bible Sabbath is from sunset to sunset.
The book of Genesis
Chapter 1 verse 5 said “And God called the light Day, and the darkness he
called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.”
Also, the Leviticus 23:32 read “from even unto even shall
you celebrate your Sabbath.” Moreover, the book of Mark 1:32 said, “And at even
when the sun did set, they brought unto him (Jesus) all that were diseased and
them that were possessed with devils.
The Teaching of the Prophets regarding the Sabbath and its Observance
This is the declaration of the blessings and the woes from
disregarding the Sabbath as the day of rest.
According to the book of Jeremiah Chapter 17, verses 24, 25
and 27, “The Lord says, ‘You must make sure to obey me. You must not
bring any loads through the gates of this city on the Sabbath day. You must set
the Sabbath day apart to me. You must not do any work on that day. If you do this, then the kings and princes who follow in
David’s succession and ride in chariots or on horses will continue to enter
through these gates, as well as their officials and the people of Judah and the
citizens of Jerusalem. And this city shall remain forever…….. But
you must obey me and set the Sabbath day apart to me. You must not carry any
loads in through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. If you
disobey, I will set the gates of Jerusalem on fire. It will burn down all the
fortified dwellings in Jerusalem and no one will be able to put it out.’”
The Sabbath was Instituted As a Memorial of Creation.
Firstly, God created all things of which man was made in the
image of God was the crowning work.
“So God created humankind in his own image, in the image of God
he created them, male and female he created them” Gen1:27
“Beloved, now are we the
Son of God”1Jonh 3:2a
Secondly, the Sabbath was given as the day of rest.
The Bible says in the book of Exodus Chapter20, verse 11
that, ”for six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in
them ,and rested the Sabbath day. Wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day
and hallowed it.”
Thirdly, one of the main purposes of the Sabbath is to
worship.
Gospel according to Saint Luke Chapter 4, verse 16
testifying to this. ” And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And
as his custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, stood up for
to read.”
This is telling us that even Jesus did worship on the
Sabbath day.
The fourth part is
the test of obedience. For you to
observe the real Sabbath properly, it really shows that you obey your God.
“Tell the Israelites, ‘Surely you must keep my Sabbaths, for
it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations that you may know
that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.”Ex 31:13. Also the book of Ezekiel has this to add, “Treat
my Sabbaths as holy and they will be a reminder of our relationship, and then
you will know that I am the Lord your God.”
Are you part of the
now Israelites? Then listen to the Word of your Creator today! By obeying Him
right-away.
Beloved, tomorrow may be too late, follow the Bible doctrine
today and leave the human teaching.
Some are worried about their wealth. Many are fearful on
loosing church member. They believe that if they reveal the truth now, it is
possible that their church congregation will reduce. I am calling you all today
to believe only on God and His word of Hope. God will see you through In Jesus
Name, Amen.
